Everything to know before your appointment.

This is the full Studio Rhema prep and aftercare guide in one place. Review it before booking, before your tan, and again if you have lashes, sun exposure, or appointment timing questions.

01

Exfoliate

Exfoliate your skin & shower the night before the tan — do NOT shower on the day of the tan before your appointment.

If possible, exfoliate 2–3 times in the days leading up to your appointment, with the last time being the night before. Do not do this right before the appointment.

Avoid scrubs with oils as they may leave a residue that prevents the solution from soaking into your skin properly.

Ask us about the exfoliation mitt we carry in-studio, created specifically for spray tan preparation.

02

Moisturize

On the days leading up to the tan, moisturize your skin often — including the night before after your exfoliation shower.

The more hydrated your skin is, the better. Do not use lotion on the day of your appointment (if your hands are extremely dry, lotion on hands only is fine).

Drink lots of water in the days leading up to your tan. Hydrated skin holds a spray tan better.

03

Hair Removal & Nails

Shave 24 hours before the tan — not the day of.

Waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior so no residue remains on the skin.

Manicures and pedicures should also be done 24–48 hours before the tan. If you must do nails afterward, we recommend a polish change only — avoid any soaking or scrubbing that comes with a full mani/pedi.

04

The Day of the Tan

Do not shower the day of your tan — that was already done the night before. Do not apply any product to your skin. This includes lotion, oil, deodorant (especially spray deodorant or the Dove brand), serums, perfume, or makeup.

05

Clothing

Bring dark, loose clothing. No jeans, leggings, or bras immediately after the appointment (unless worn during the tan).

Baggy sweatpants or loose pajama pants with a long-sleeve shirt or baggy sweater is ideal. We want to avoid skin-on-skin contact right after, so shorts and dresses are not recommended.

If rain is possible, bring an umbrella — you cannot get your skin wet until your first shower. Wear slides or loose footwear; loose socks are fine.

06

Remove All Jewellery

Do not come to your appointment wearing jewellery. Everything must be removed before arriving — especially bracelets, necklaces, and anklets.

Please leave all jewellery at home. You cannot put it back on after the tan, and clients frequently forget valuable or sentimental pieces at the studio.

We are not responsible for jewellery or any other valuable or sentimental items left at our studio or any lost or stolen items.

07

Sun Burns & UV Damage

If you have any sunburn or recent sun/UV damage, we will not be able to tan you. This includes minor sunburns even without peeling or intense redness.

It is the client's responsibility to prevent UV and sun damage before the appointment. Appointments cancelled within 48 hours due to UV damage are treated as a late cancellation and charged 100% of the service fee.

08

Lash Extensions

Ideally, lash extension appointments should be booked at least 1 day before your spray tan — not after.

If your lashes must be done after: if it is the same day before you rinse, consider skipping the face tan. If it is after you have rinsed, you could still tan your face but risk the lash tape or eye cushions removing some of the tan. It does not happen often, but you can always touch up with makeup or our take-home touch-up spray.

09

Policy on Guests

Please do not bring guests unless they are also booked for an appointment. This includes children — we are located in a beauty studio with other service providers using equipment that may be hot, sharp, heavy, or chemical-adjacent.

For liability reasons and out of respect for other providers in the studio, anyone who arrives with an unbooked guest will be turned away. This is treated as a late cancellation and the fee will apply.
